NYPD Tests Convoy Of Hybrid SUVs (WCBS-TV New York)
The New York City Police Department is testing a new fleet of hybrid SUVs, electric scooters and battery-powered three-wheel transporters. The city unveiled the first of 20 hybrid sport utility vehicles on Monday as it touted the police department’s efforts to curb energy consumption. The new hybrids get 20 mpg, a 25 percent improvement over the gas-guzzling model.
