I drove it back the 60 miles to my home on two lane highways. Average speed was between 50-58. Computer said I avg.38.2 miles per gallon. Outside Temp was 37 degrees most of the way.I am very happy with that. From some of the professional reviews and even some of the customers, I was concerned what the transition was going to be between EV and ICE mode and back again. I have to say that it was really hardly noticable. It felt more like a gear shift on a manual but even less about 25% of that. Most of the time, I didn’t notice and now I don’t think it will enter my mind other than when looking at the display.
I tired to get the energy flow meter to shut down all flows for a test glide but couldn’t do it once. I wonder if that feature was software out on the NAH.
This is the most fun I have had with a car in a long time. it’s like the first trip to DisneyWorld. Well maybe not that exciting but pretty close.

AS HARD AS DOMESTIC CAR and truck manufacturers have been trying to win younger buyers on the coasts with messages about vehicle quality, reliability and youth, they aren’t swaying younger buyers just yet. According to J.D. Power and Associates’ "2007 Avoider Study," released Thursday, pro-domestic and pro-import vehicle buyers are divergent in age and region. The study found that the younger a buyer is, the more he or she is likely to avoid domestic cars and trucks. Conversely, buyers who purchase domestic vehicles are more likely than younger buyers to avoid a vehicle because it’s an import. Younger buyers also give more importance to gas mileage as a reason for purchasing, versus older buyers. Generally, domestic-vehicle buyers say styling and cost are the biggest reasons they avoid import vehicles. |

I’m over a decade late in entering the car market to buy my first vehicle, so when I did so, the internet played a major role in finding praise and criticisms for the vehicles I had in scope.
The younger generation is exploiting the technology even more. It is no longer sufficient to write your slanted opinion pieces through traditionally well-known publications and assume that people are paying attention anymore.

Tesla Motors has just announced that company co-founder Martin Eberhard has moved over to the company’s advisory board. Last August Martin stepped down as CEO to take on the role of President of Technology and oversee getting the company’s first product the Tesla Roadster into production. The car has been plagued by transmission problems which necessitated a supplier and significant re-engineering of even the replacement transmission design. Late this evening Tesla sent out a note that Martin Eberhard will be relinquishing that role as well to new CEO Ze’ev Drori. Martin Eberhard will no longer have any day to day involvement in running Tesla Motors or the Roadster program.
Although things have obviously not turned out the way he might have hoped for his company and car, Martin and the rest of the team deserve a lot of credit for trying and getting this far. The reality of building a complete and well integrated car that meets all modern safety and customer requirements is an enormously difficult challenge regardless of what kind of drive-train it has. In a remarkably short period of time the team at Tesla have come a lot farther than most of the efforts to build a viable electric car. The car I rode in recently was remarkably good in so many ways. Hopefully Martin Eberhard’s dream car will come to fruition sooner rather than later.

Solar Showdown In Congress
With Congress back in session, renewable energy proponents are girding for a battle over legislation that could make or break the nascent solar power industry.
At stake in the energy bill now before Congress is the survival of a 30 percent investment tax credit that makes large-scale solar power plants a viable option for utilities under pressure to cut greenhouse gas emissions by obtaining more of their electricity from renewable sources. On the home front, a similar tax credit for residential solar installations is up for grabs as Congress tries to reconcile House and Senate versions of the energy legislation.
“There are at least eight or nine well-funded companies that are actually making great progress in developing large-scale solar,” says Joshua Bar-Lev, vice president for regulatory affairs for Oakland, Calif.,-based solar power plant developer BrightSource Energy. “I don’t know if any of them are going to be able to finance projects and get the permits they need without these tax credits.”
The solar companies and their allies in the utility industry and on Wall Street had been pressing for an eight-year extension of the investment tax credit. They also want to abolish a prohibition on utilities from taking advantage of the incentive if they invest directly in solar power plants. But since word hit the street that Congressional leaders were considering stripping out the incentives to speed passage of the complex legislation — catchall bills that will affect the fate of nearly every energy-related industry, from Big Oil to biofuels — solar proponents have been converging on the Capitol in an 11th-hour lobbying frenzy.
“Things are very uncertain at the moment,” says Chris O’Brien, an executive at solar panel maker Sharp who serves as chairman of the Solar Energy Industry Association, a trade group. “In recent years, we’ve seen a very sharp increase in corporate investment, project investment and financing for solar technology companies and solar projects. There’s great concern that the U.S. market continue to grow.”

Above is a video of Zorbing, which is basically strapping yourself to the inside of an inflated sphere and rolling down a hill. Zorbing uses gravity and you do travel a certain distance, so it could be considered green transport. Below the fold is a large-wheel, skateboard, scooter-like vehicle called Magic Wheel, which is very green because it’s human powered. The Magic Wheel looks as easy to ride as a scooter but does not require the use of your hands for balance the way a skateboard does.

I’m in Denver, Congress Park area. Unfortunately, I’m not interested in shipping it. I don’t have the original packing materials and don’t want to mess with it.
I don’t need it, and it’s just sitting there. Now, I just can’t stand when wealthy people try to get stuff for free. It’s tacky, IMO. So, for the sake of good Karma if nothing else, I’d like to see at least a token offer of some kind. But I am also easily distracted by sad stories, interesting arguments and shiny objects and am perfectly willing to give it away to a guy or girl that needs it. PM me if interested. Thanks to all.
